Emotion Detecting Tech???

Ok I know what your thinking and yes strangely enough this is video game related. Siliconera reports (courtesy of Joystiq) that Sony has filed a patent for a technology that uses a camera and microphone to detect a player's emotional state, including laughter, joy, anger, sadness, and boredom.

This new tech. will read metadata retrieved from a camera and microphone to know your emotional response to what you're seeing which means yes the Playstation 3 will know when your giving it that evil glare for you being upset over a game.

Also according to the filing, this technology identifies emotions by reading facial expressions of group behavior as well such as two players congratulating each other.

Applications of this tech. is still unknown at this time so it's really hard to place a use on this technology, we don't even know if it will be used at all by Sony. The level of research and development of the tech. is also shady, but for better or worst I am looking forward to seeing how this play out.

Madden 2k10

As we all know Madden 2k10 is just upon us. The long awaited EA Sports title will be released in a few days from now (August 14) to those who have pre-ordered long in advance.  To help tie over those who couldn't wait that long, EA released a demo ( or major heart-breaker as i call all demos) earlier this year on July 23 for those lucky Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers. That so called "demo" demonstated some of the best things about the Madden franchise of games and did nothing to soften the bow of having to wait,  instead it fueled the flames burning inside of all true Madden fans.
EA Sports has done a fantastic job putting together this new addition to the Madden family tree. As most of us demo players have seen already the graphics are great! The demo consisted of a four quarter demo which included new Madden NFL  features such as the Pro-Tak technology and broadcast-style presentation. Pro-Tak all on its own is a huge improvement to the characteristics of the game play. This new installment provides more dynamic tackling on the defense, allows players to fight for fumbles at the bottom of the pile, better evasion maneuvers for the Quarterback, and defenders can even gang up on an offensive player, allowing up to 9-man tackles!! Mini games are still standard as always, having the ability to edit players and uniforms etc. still exist, according to EA this will be the most customizable Madden made so far... we will see. Game play is different and the fell of it is to but its extreamely easy to pick up on. Everything is a lot smoother and the players actually appear to have weight, meaning that the 350+ lineman isn't floating around as easy as the running back.
Again this is just our take on the demo which was released July 23 and already we can see the major improvements and features of the Madden series. Other features included with the final production game will include things like dynamic player towels, single-digit helmet numbers, Super Bowl patches, team colored gloves and shoes, season based field designs, better number spacing on jerseys, new player equipment and uniforms, weather based clothing, hundreds of new cameras, new broadcast graphics, and a hundred new cut scenes, and along side that many stadiums have had renovations to their edge walls, fields, and structure to be as accurate as possible.(coming directly from EA.)
With all the talk and anticipation of Madden 2k10 this will certainly paint a picture that we have all seen way to many time. People will be camping out a few days in advance waiting for the doors of the nearest video game retail store to open up to get their hands on the game. My advice would be to pre-order the game to prevent yourself from ending up as one of those unlucky customers(unless you like to camp in parking lots or on sidewalks, we all have our idea of fun) there is still a few days left. I would recommend shopping with Amazon.com, really whats better than pre-ordering and not having to take time out of your day or waste gas money which could be saved for the pizza and delivery guys tip for the game play parties... right? here's the link for those of you who haven't ordered yet-
In hopes for a great Madden 2k10 launch, "unleash your inner gamer!"

Remaining 2009 gamers year!!

Welcome fellow gamers and congratulations to you for stumbling upon Csvideogames.blogspot.com! This post is the first of many which will be posted with intention to inform and help you make a decision when it comes down to controversial topics like ps3 or xbox 360, but that's a different topic for another post. The 2009 gaming year has been filled with excitement from hit videogames hitting the shelves of brick and mortar stores and internet store fronts alike to the big announcement if the PSP GO! earlier this year coming straight from the E3 convention 2009. Rest assured that this is just the beginning of this years gaming strides. Jack Trenton who is an extremely fun guy and some one who I would like to meet is in charge of the wonderful Sony company ( I am going to get chewed up by Microsoft fans world wide for that one... and this one ) and has made claims of being a ground breaking innovator for the past 15 years. I for one totally agree to that comment. Don't get me wrong, I am a die hard Nintendo and Microsoft fan just as many of the people on this wonderful planet are also, but when you truly think about it, it's true. I believe that the 2009 year will ultimately be the best year for Sony out of all the past years in terms of video game titles and breaking edge video game console technology, for example, just take a look at their Playstation 3 gaming platform. The resolution is by far still unmatched by any other gaming platform manufacture, although the 360 comes within flea strides of it. On top of that Sony is actually going to show off that winning feature through some very enticing and exciting up coming games such as uncharted 2 and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. As for the PSP GO! or (the worst kept secret of E3 as others have called it) will not continue to support Umd technology although they will be sold along side the PSP 3000. The PSP GO! features new add on's that many of us have been yearning for such as built in memory, which in this case tops 16 gb, Bluetooth, and a mz memory slot for added memory capability. This system features a new sliding screen design while still keeping things half the size and almost half the weight of the original PSP gaming system which will make it a perfect system for all ages and gaming, music, and video enthusiast alike. Microsoft on the other hand offers a detailed glimpse into the Xbox 360's video game line up for the rest of 2009 and into 2010 as well during the Microsoft press conference at E3 2009. Many of the video games shown took away the heart wrenching decision for us multi-platform gamers having to make the decision... "what system should I get this game for?" by showing off a complete line-up of top notch video games specific to the Xbox 360 game system. And to the amazement of some ( including myself) they surprised us by breaking the mold and offering the Playstation series of Final Fantasy, starting out with Final Fantasy XIII, officially making it non exclusive to the Playstation 3. Not to be left out or out done Nintendo has a promising future for the remainder of 2009 and the beginning of the 2010 year. Nintendo has already partially satisfied the hunger of many gamers by introducing the Nintendo DSI hand-held system to open market this spring 2009.  Upcoming video games would include Mario Galaxy 2, wii fit plus and many more. Nintendo is also bulking up their new Wii console by adding ground breaking accessories to the line up of current ones. Some of these include Wii motion plus which will provide even more physical reality in it's games. The idea behind this tech. is that it will attach to the Wiimote allowing it to sense subtle motions and locate how a player is holding the wiimote in 3-D space. Not to mention that the DSI will offer photo/facebook integration ( come'on we all know how important it is to update our facebook right?). Another very exciting tech. in progress for Nintendo would be their vitality sensor. It's some what still unclear on the usage of of this accessory in video games, my guess is that it will read your vitals and maybe effect your character's game play accordingly. Looking at today's advancements and the strides made this year makes it almost impossible to imagine that this is still just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to gaming tech, everything including the things mentioned in this article and E3 can be considered a "look into the future of gaming". Until next time "unleash your inner gamer!"
